Rates

Although I can confidently say my translation is at the top of the quality range available, as an independent translator I can still offer competitive rates.

Every project is different, and I’d like to know more before I give you a quote. I might need to see a sample of the text. Just give me a call for a chat. You can also send an e-mail, or message me from my contact page with a little explanation of your project, the number of words and the deadline. I’ll get straight back to you.

Translation

Rates are per word, and vary according to the type of content, the size of the project, the nature of the client and the preferred deadline.

Copy-editing

My rate for editing in English is generally by the hour, though in some cases a rate per word may be preferable, by mutual agreement.

Not surprisingly, the time needed varies widely. Proofreading work by a professional native speaker might be about 3000 words an hour, while totally rewriting text by an inexpert non-native speaker might be 500 words an hour. Most projects will be about halfway in between.

Large projects

For large translation or editing projects, such as books, I often collaborate with my long-term colleague Steve Green. I also call in colleagues to work on projects that require proof-reading or English to Dutch translation.
